As the regular season nears, the Bulls are cutting down their roster.

After wrapping up their preseason finale with a victory, the Chicago Bulls are trimming their roster ahead of next week's regular season opener.

The franchise announced on Saturday afternoon that it had waived center Orlando Robinson, forward Jalen Bridges, guard Brandon Boston Jr. and guard Drew Peterson. All four were on Exhibit 10 contracts, which enabled them to spend training camp with the Bulls and play in preseason games.

Chicago's cuts put the Bulls' roster at 14 players, one below the NBA's maximum. The Bulls also have all three of their two-way contracts filled after signing guard Jordan Hawkins earlier this month.

Robinson, 26, played three games for the Bulls during the preseason. He logged eight points and six rebounds against the Nuggets, then scored nine points on 3-of-3 shooting with two blocks against the Timberwolves on Friday night. Given the Bulls' injuries at the center position, Robinson could have been a potential frontcourt depth signing, but it seems Chicago will look elsewhere.

Bridges, 25, scored 10 points in four preseason appearances. All but two of his shots came from beyond the three-point line, where he was 3-of-8.

Boston, 24, played sparingly during the preseason. He made his lone shot against the Suns and was 0-of-1 in games against the Grizzlies and Bucks.

Peterson, 26, saw at least seven minutes of action during four of the Bulls' five preseason outings. The former USC Trojan made six of his nine shots and scored 16 points, with seven coming in Friday night's win over Minnesota. Peterson shot 4-of-6 on three-point attempts and recorded five assists, three rebounds and four steals.

All four players could certainly return to Chicago for the franchise's G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls, but they are now free to sign anywhere. G League rosters must be set for opening day by Nov. 5.

The Bulls currently have six guards rostered: Josh Giddey, Dailyn Swain, Buddy Hield, Norman Powell, Tre Jones and Isaac Okoro. Chicago also has six forwards in Noa Essengue, Caleb Wilson, Leonard Miller, Matas Buzelis, Jalen Smith and Patrick Williams, and two true centers in Nic Claxton and Zach Collins. Hawkins, guard Jaylin Sellers and forward Tobe Awaka are all signed to two-way contracts, which allow them to play for both the franchise's NBA and G League rosters.

Chicago opens its NBA season on Wednesday, Oct. 21, in Toronto against the Raptors.
