Chicago Bulls guard Coby White is dealing with a calf strain and will be limited in training camp and the preseason game schedule, the team's Executive Vice President of Basketball Operations Artūras Karnišovas announced Monday at the team’s media day.

He clarified that White suffered the injury a month ago, which will limit his activity during the training camp and the preseason game schedule.

"Coby is going to be limited...Hopefully we can see him at the end of preseason, but our focus is on him being ready for the regular season," Kanisovas said.

White has steadily grown into Chicago’s most reliable scorer, coming off a career-best season averaging 20.5 points, 4.5 assists and a franchise-record 216 made threes. At just 25, he’s pushing into fringe All-Star territory, expected to take another leap as the Bulls’ offensive engine.

White, who showed up later in the media conference, emphasized that his calf strain isn’t something the Bulls want to rush, especially given how similar injuries have sometimes led to more serious issues like Achilles tears. He said the sufficiency of time allowed him to focus on a full recovery rather than pushing through at this point.

“Obviously that plays a part,” White said. “It’s not like I’m playing in Game 7 of the NBA Finals tomorrow or in the playoffs tomorrow. So that’s one of the reasons for sure that you gotta look at it, you gotta be cautious.”
