Rookie Essengue is showcasing immediate offensive firepower and hinting at future NBA readiness.

Bulls rookie Noa Essengue dropped 28 points with 8 rebounds in his G League debut Tuesday night as the Windy City Bulls faced the Wisconsin Herd, the Milwaukee Bucks' affiliate.

Essengue played a team-high 29 minutes, leading all scorers while showing the offensive potential Chicago saw when they drafted him. His two-way teammates also contributed: Trentyn Flowers added 12 points and 5 rebounds, Lachlan Olbrich posted 15 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists, and Emanuel Miller chipped in 13 points and 6 boards.

The French international was previously assigned to Windy City but was recalled by the Bulls for their back-to-back road trip against Milwaukee and Cleveland. He missed the G League season opener at home against the Herd while traveling with the NBA roster. After Monday's loss to San Antonio, Chicago reassigned Essengue to Windy City.

His preseason performance didn't inspire confidence—3.8 points and 1.8 assists per game—suggesting he wasn't quite in NBA shape yet. Head coach Billy Donovan acknowledged Essengue hasn't logged NBA minutes but said the rookie "will get back with us" while participating in the G League. Donovan emphasized that Essengue "needs to understand" the team's developmental plan and the purpose of his G League assignment.

If Essengue maintains this production level in the G League, Bulls fans may not have to wait long to see him earn his first NBA minutes. His debut performance suggests the raw talent is there—he just needs the reps to refine it.
