Chicago has been on the wrong side of the NBA's L2M report often, being notified that a call that was missed would've benefitted them. Following the Bulls win over the Washington Wizards, it was announced that luck was on their side this time.

The Chicago Bulls (and their fans) have been used to getting disappointing news from the 2025-26 NBA Officiating Last Two Minute Reports. The usual pattern for Bulls fans has been: Chicago suffers a heartbreaking loss, and then later, the league announces in the L2M report that a call that was missed, a call that would've benefitted the Bulls. This time, Lady Luck shined down on the Bulls.

Chicago narrowly defeated the Washington Wizards 121-120 on Saturday night. The Bulls used a marked advantage in free throw attempts (+10), and a low turnover rate (8.1%) to take out the Wizards despite Washington's offense shooting efficiently all night (54.2% eFG).

The fourth quarter saw both teams give tremendous effort, even if the outcome was occasionally a sloppy or disjointed play. This was evident at the very end of the game, which is where the NBA  L2M report comes into play.

With the Wizards trailing by one point, Kyshawn George--who shot poorly but had a well-rounded stat line of 17 points, 12 rebounds, 7 assists, and 4 steals--came to receive the inbounds pass. George receives the ball, tightly guarded by Josh Giddey, and then is caught off guard by Tre Jones, who leaves his man to poke the ball free. George recovered the ball as he slipped to the ground and promptly threw the ball out of bounds in the vicinity of CJ McCollum. The pseudo-trap from the Bulls flustered the young Wizards, and led to the Bulls win.

The NBA's L2M report eventually came out to state that Tre Jones committed a foul on George when he shot the gap to pressure him and poke the ball free, resulting in George hitting the floor and essentially throwing the game away. It goes without saying, that game could've very easily been a loss for Chicago, something we knew even before receiving the news that the Bulls might've got away with one.

But as is the theme of a season in which the young Bulls are trying to establish winning ways: a win is a win.
