Rob Dillingham is a 6’2 Point Guard from Hickory, NC, and the newest player for the Bulls via a trade made with the Timberwolves. Rob was one of my favorite guards coming out of the 2024 draft class and was selected as the 8th pick in that draft. He played really well during his one year at Kentucky under John Calipari, averaging 15 points a game, was the SEC 6 man of the year, SEC all-freshman, and All-SEC. Rob's time with the Timberwolves wasn’t as promising as he thought it would be, with limited playing time and, at times, DNP’s. But I feel that his time in Chicago he gets a chance to show his talent and build up his confidence. He has a tremendous skill set with his ability to score and create his own shot. During his time in Chicago, he could develop his game and develop more of his floor general skills. Dillingham is the definition of a microwave scorer who is capable of taking a game over in a matter of seconds. Rob being such a natural scorer and being able to go on runs by himself, I hope the Bulls can unlock his full potential and develop him properly. In his first game in Chicago, Dillingham scored nine points to go with four assists, three rebounds, and a steal. A nice debut in his first game, I feel that only better is to come with more playing time.
In the matchup with the Denver Nuggets, Dillingham played 22 minutes, which is hopefully what the new role will be for the electric guard with his new squad. Dillingham was a fan favorite during his time in Lexington due to his exciting style of play, so Kentucky fans will be hoping to see him succeed at his second stop in his NBA career.
Dillingham’s appeal has always been his fearlessness. He can create his own shot, pull up from deep, and attack defenders off the bounce without hesitation. If the Bulls can harness that confidence while surrounding him with the right structure and development staff, the payoff could be significant.
For Bulls fans, Dillingham represents hope and excitement during a period of change. For Kentucky fans, he remains a player worth rooting for as he embarks on the next chapter of his NBA journey. In Chicago, Rob Dillingham finally has the opportunity to be himself — and that may make all the difference.
