As we quickly approach the February 5th (3 p.m. ET) NBA trade deadline, the rumor mill is heating up. It's important around this time of the NBA season to trust the old adage "where there's smoke there's fire." And on that note, the Bulls obviously have a big decision looming with soon-to-be unrestricted free agent Coby White. He has had an uneven season as he deals with a nagging calf injury, but it is well-known within NBA circles that the Bulls do value White highly still, something seemingly confirmed by Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints.

Mandatory Credit: Kamil Krzaczynski-Imagn ImagesOn a recent episode of the Bulls Central Podcast (hosted by Jamaal Aflatooni), Siegel stated that he believes the Bulls asking price for White to be an unprotected 1st round pick, despite him being an expiring contract. This is a big ask of the Bulls, as White will need to be paid, and will likely looking for a long-term deal.
White has no doubt earned a raise, but the question for the team acquiring White is: can we afford to fit White with our core pieces financially speaking?
Regardless of if White commands an unprotected 1st round pick, the fact the Bulls front office is reportedly asking for one is a big step in the right direction if true. Josh Giddey has proved to be an excellent acquisition, and Isaac Okoro has had as good if not a clearly better season than Lonzo Ball, but still the fact that the Bulls didn't net draft picks in either trade for those players has stunted their rebuild.
We are three weeks away from the NBA trade deadline, and up to this point the Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks, Dallas Mavericks, and Los Angeles Clippers are the teams that have most prominently been mentioned as suitors for White.
Minnesota clearly needs help at point guard, but they don't have much in the way of premium draft capital, much like the Mavericks. The Clippers have some distant 1st round picks that could have appeal given their current situation, but they are very far down the road picks. The Hawks, specifically, have a decent collection of draft picks that could be enticing for Chicago, along with a need--albeit not a strong one--for more shotmaking that could make White intriguing for them. I don't get the sense that the Bulls will find a deal that they like for White, but the possibility of him being moved certainly feels more real than it ever did before.
