The Chicago Bulls will tip off their 2025-26 season on October 22 when they host the Detroit Pistons. After a series of devastating injuries to conference contenders, the Eastern Conference appears wide open for the taking, and the Bulls could use that to their advantage. The team enters the second year of its Giddey-Coby White backcourt duo, which thrived down the stretch last season after Chicago traded Zach LaVine to Sacramento.

Matas Buzelis looks to take a major leap in his sophomore season, following a campaign in which he landed on the All-Rookie Second Team. He joins French forward Noa Essengue, the No. 12 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, who doesn't turn 19 years old until December.

Additionally, several Bulls are seeking bounce-back seasons. Patrick Williams struggled greatly in 2024-25, while players like Tre Jones and Ayo Dosunmu missed extensive time due to injury.

Chicago is coming off a 39-43 campaign, which placed the Bulls ninth in the Eastern Conference. Billy Donovan's squad landed in the Play-In Tournament for the third consecutive season and was eliminated by the Heat in a resounding 109-90 defeat.

The Bulls last made the NBA Playoffs in the 2021-22 season, when LaVine, DeMar DeRozan and Nikola Vucevic led them to the No. 6 seed with a 46-36 record. Chicago lost to the Milwaukee Bucks in the first round in five games.
