Chicago Bulls announcer Adam Amin has seen a lot since he became the team's television play-by-play commentator. When he started as a fill-in announcer in 2018, coach Fred Hoiberg was fired and replaced by Jim Boylen. He was the Bulls' full-time play-by-play guy when DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine were All-Stars and led Chicago to the playoffs in 2022, and remained with the team as the Bulls floated around the Play-In Tournament for three consecutive years.

Now, Amin will be the voice entering a new era of Bulls basketball, as the franchise finally begins a much-needed rebuild. Chicago is embracing its young core, returning faces like Matas Buzelis and Josh Giddey while adding top draft picks Caleb Wilson and Dailyn Swain.

Wilson has yet to play in an NBA game, but the weight of the franchise already rests largely on his shoulders. The North Carolina product already appears to have a fan in Amin, entering his seventh season as the Bulls' play-by-play announcer.

On an episode of the CHGO Bulls Podcast last week, Amin expressed how impressed he was with Wilson's play, even before he knew the former Tar Heel was headed to Chicago. He also called the 20-year-old Wilson mature, humble and confident, but not confident to the point of arrogance.

"The way he moved on the court, especially in the open floor, I thought this would translate very well to the NBA level," Amin said. "I think he is pretty much what you want in a power forward in a modern NBA lineup that wants to run. He can handle the ball in the open floor very well. Now, it's going to be much more difficult at the NBA level when you have small guards running at you, mid-court traps, things like that. The way they run it at the NBA is just faster... He's obviously gonna have to make those adjustments."

Amin called one of Wilson's college games when North Carolina played Michigan State over Thanksgiving weekend of last year and said he was "blown away" by him, both as an athlete and as a person. Wilson went on to earn Second Team All-American honors after averaging 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.4 blocks per game for the Tar Heels.

Roughly six months later, the Bulls jumped from the ninth-best odds in the lottery to the No. 4 overall pick in the NBA Draft. Head executive Bryson Graham made Wilson his first draft pick as Chicago's lead decision-maker, ushering in a new era built around the 6-foot-10, 215-pound forward.

Wilson projects to bring excitement to the Bulls in year one. He uses his freak athleticism to generate highlight-reel dunks and blocks, pairing Buzelis with another versatile interior and mid-range threat.

The Bulls will tip off their 2026-27 season on the road against the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Amin will return as the Chicago Sports Network's primary play-by-play announcer, while CHSN reportedly intends to use a rotating cast of color commentators to replace the late Stacey King.
