2 Cavaliers 'Trending Toward' Making Return From Injury vs. Nets cover image

The Cleveland Cavaliers have two players who could make their return from injury against the Brooklyn Nets on Thursday.

In a season full of disappointing injuries for the Cleveland Cavaliers, any positive update on the injury front is welcome news. Thankfully, that’s exactly what the Cavaliers received on Wednesday as they get ready to start their post-All-Star Break stretch of games.

During Cleveland’s practice, Kenny Atkinson shared that both Evan Mobley and Dean Wade are “trending” toward being able to play on Thursday against the Brooklyn Nets. The team just needs to wait and see how they responded from Wednesday’s practice before making a final decision.

“I think Dean and Evan are trending towards playing tomorrow,” said Cleveland’s head coach. “They went through a full practice today, looked good. As long as the returns are good from [head trainer] Steve [Spiro] and them tomorrow.”

Mobley had been out since January 6 with his second calf strain of the season. The first one came in December and forced him to miss only a few games, but the more recent injury has kept him out much longer.

Adding Mobley back in the mix, alongside James Harden, will be appointment viewing for all Cavaliers fans and opposing teams as they scout what this duo can do.

On the other hand, Wade missed the last three games heading into the All-Star Break with knee soreness. It’ll be nice to see him back on the floor with the extra time off.

Atkinson also offered a bit more insight into how Max Strus is progressing following his injury. The forward still hasn’t played this season since undergoing offseason foot surgery.

“Max is progressing. Really did a pretty high level workout today, of no contact still, but he's starting to ramp up.”

Atkinson cautioned against getting too excited. It's not like [a return is] here on the horizonright away, but he's doing a lot more, so that's good news.”

Overall, the Cavaliers are getting healthier, and that’s exactly the news the team wants to hear as they look to get everyone on the same page for their home stretch before the most important playoff run of this era of Cavaliers basketball.
