The Cleveland Cavaliers had a historic offensive outburst in their win over the Miami Heat, 149-128.
It’s been the Cleveland Cavaliers’ defense that has gained the most attention over the last few weeks, but the Wine and Gold’s offense is what stole the show in the team’s dominant victory over the Miami Heat on Friday night.
The Cavaliers were coming off a loss to the same Heat team that seemed like they couldn’t miss on Wednesday evening, and Cleveland gave the Eastern Conference a taste of their own medicine on Friday.
Cleveland’s offense was firing on all cylinders and put up a historic performance in their win.
The Cavaliers scored 149 points against the Heat, tied for the second-most in franchise history. It is the most points the Cavaliers have ever scored at Rocket Arena
Cleveland also scored 149 points against the Denver Nuggets on December 27, 2024, and the franchise record remains 154 points, set on January 29, 1980, in a game against the Los Angeles Lakers.

The Cavaliers finished with seven players in double digits, and the team shot 53 percent (52-for-97) from the floor and 46 percent (19-for-41) from behind the arc.
Cleveland’s top three scorers ended up being:
- Max Strus - 29 points
- Evan Mobley - 23 points
- Jarrett Allen - 18 points
One of Kenny Atkinson’s biggest takeaways from Cleveland’s victory was that the team was still able to score 149 points, even with Donovan Mitchell only scoring six points while shooting 1-for-10 from the field. That stat alone, in a team performance like the one Cleveland put on, shows just how many scoring threats the Cavs have on their roster.
Cleveland’s head coach also gave a shout-out to James Harden for his playmaking as the veteran guard finished with 14 assists, marking the highest
Even though it was the offense that stole the show, it also highlights just how important Cleveland’s defense will be in the playoffs. We know the Cavaliers can score, and they showed that again versus the Heat.
Will they be able to get everyone on the same page on both ends of the floor, though?
