Chris Bosh says LeBron James should sign with the Miami Heat over the Cavaliers, citing Giannis Antetokounmpo and family comfort as reasons.
Chris Bosh, who won two championships with LeBron James, prefers the superstar to return to the Miami Heat rather than rejoin the Cleveland Cavaliers for a third time.
Bosh recently said he'd rather see James join Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Heat than return to the Cavaliers for a third stint.
James' free agency is in its third week. The main teams in the mix, aside from the Cavaliers and Heat, have been the Golden State Warriors, Philadelphia 76ers, and Minnesota Timberwolves.
Cleveland was a favorite early in the offseason due to James' history with the franchise, but it remains to be seen which team he will pick. Antetokounmpo landed in Miami in a mid-July trade centered on Tyler Herro and draft picks, adding appeal to the Heat as an option.
Bosh compared a James-Antetokounmpo pairing to the transition attack he saw with James and Dwyane Wade during Miami's four consecutive NBA Finals from 2011-14.
"I think that would be a nightmare to stop," Bosh said. "If you know anything about the Miami Heat, they don't believe in wasted years. They're going to put a team around Giannis to compete for a championship."
Miami needs to build around Antetokounmpo, Bam Adebayo, and possibly James. Bosh said he wasn't familiar with the Heat's salary cap and left those choices to the front office. Miami is roughly $10.5 million below the first apron with two open roster spots. The Heat could sign James to a veteran's minimum and still have flexibility to sign another player.
Bosh also pointed to the importance of making a decision based on family. James spent eight seasons with the Lakers, his longest stay.
"You have to either stay or uproot them and put them in a situation," Bosh said. "Kids are in school. They have friends."
James echoed Bosh's sentiment during his Fanatics Fest.
"It's a big decision for not only myself, but for my family as well," James said, adding that he wants to fit into his next situation rather than have a franchise reshape itself around him.
Bosh mentioned James could make the announcement a spectacle, similar to the first "The Decision."
"Don't be surprised if we see it again," Bosh said, referring to James' nationally televised 2010 free-agency special. "It might be the Decision 2.0."
The NBA world is waiting for James to announce his decision. Whether he chooses to team up with Stephen Curry in Golden State, return to Cleveland, play with Giannis in Miami, or make a surprising decision.
