LeBron James finishing his NBA career with the Cleveland Cavaliers would certainly be fun to see.

A former Cleveland Cavaliers guard believes LeBron James will come home this offseason in free agency.

J.R. Smith thinks James will leave the Los Angeles Lakers for the Cavaliers this offseason.

James, 41, becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason for the first time since 2018.

Smith and James were teammates on the Cavaliers and Lakers. The two NBA champions have a close relationship, as they won the 2016 and 2020 titles together.

Cleveland acquired James Harden from the Los Angeles Clippers at this year's trade deadline. Multiple reports have stated that Harden and Donovan Mitchell plan to recruit James to the Cavaliers this offseason.

James, of course, is the best player in the Cavaliers franchise history. He has played for the organization twice and will get his No. 23 jersey retired by the organization one day.

Cleveland can only offer James the vet minimum this offseason, but since James is the richest player in NBA history, he's not hurting for money. Plus, James could make off-the-court money through a farewell tour with his hometown club.

The Lakers are building around Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves and appear ready to part ways with James, the NBA's all-time leading scorer. Los Angeles fans never accepted James because of their devotion to Kobe Bryant. A James mural in Los Angeles was vandalized after The King signed with the Lakers in 2018.

James should finish his NBA career with the Cavaliers. Cleveland could start Harden, Mitchell, James, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen. That's a dangerous starting lineup in the East.

It will be fascinating to see if James retires after this season or decides to continue playing. If he still wants to play, LBJ should come home this summer to play with Mitchell, Harden, Mobley and Allen.

James is arguably the best player in NBA history. He's a four-time MVP, four-time champion and four-time Finals MVP.
