Cleveland Cavaliers Coach Kenny Atkinson Addresses LeBron James Rumors

Cleveland Cavaliers head coach Kenny Atkinson addressed the LeBron James rumors while speaking to Sirius XM NBA Radio in Las Vegas.

LeBron, 41, could return to the Cavaliers this summer for a third and final stint with his hometown team.

The Philadelphia 76ers, Denver Nuggets, Miami Heat, Golden State Warriors and Minnesota Timberwolves want to sign LeBron, who is an unrestricted free agent for the first time since the summer of 2018. That's the summer LeBron left the Cavaliers for the Los Angeles Lakers.

LeBron, as everyone knows, is the greatest player in Cleveland franchise history. In two stints (2003-10, 2014-18) with the Cavaliers, LeBron averaged 27.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks per game. He won two MVPs and one Finals MVP and made 10 All-Star and 10 All-NBA teams.

For the Lakers last season, LeBron averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. He's still an elite offensive player despite being the oldest active player in the NBA.

It would certainly be cool to see LeBron end his career in Cleveland. A starting lineup of James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, LeBron, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen could compete for the championship next season.

The Cavaliers made the conference finals last season, losing to the New York Knicks in four quick games. Adding LeBron could make them title favorites next season.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, Mitchell "would embrace" LeBron signing with the Cavaliers. Buckle up, Cleveland. This could be a thrilling summer.

If LeBron does sign with the Cavaliers, don't be surprised if Cleveland trades for Bronny James. Bronny will make $2.3 million next season. The Lakers guaranteed his 2026-27 salary on June 29.

LeBron began his NBA career in Cleveland. It only makes sense for him to end his iconic career at home. The King is a four-time MVP, four-time champion and four-time Finals MVP. His No. 23 jersey will be retired by the Cavaliers one day.
