Cleveland Cavaliers fans don't like Evan Mobley's contract.

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed Evan Mobley to a massive five-year, $269 million extension in 2024.

Mobley is the highest-paid player on the Cavaliers and Wine and Gold fans aren't happy about it, per Bleacher Report

45% of Cleveland fans think Mobley has the worst contract on the team.

Mobley, who won the Defensive Player of the Year Award last season, appeared in 65 games for the Cavaliers this season. He averaged 18.2 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 0.7 steals and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 54.6% from the field, 29.7% from beyond the arc and 60.6% from the free-throw line.

A USC product, Mobley made $46.4 million this season. That's tied for 16th in the NBA. If you're gonna make that much money, you better be averaging more than 18.2 points per game.

"At 24, Evan Mobley is a Defensive Player of the Year and able to get better," Dan Favale of Bleacher Report wrote. "Yet, if he can't be the second-best offensive player on a title contender, the four years and $222.7 million remaining on his pact look a lot steeper.

"For those who care, yours truly would have still gone with Dennis Schröder. But given the number of fans who recently railed against my 'I wouldn't trade Mobley for Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer' take on a Cleveland radio station, I'm not surprised to learn I'm in the minority."

The Cavaliers face the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the 2026 playoffs. Cleveland is under immense pressure to have a successful 2026 playoffs. Why? Because according to Joe Vardon of The Athletic, the general feeling is that the Cavaliers have to reach the Eastern Conference Finals this year to avoid a substantial shakeup.

The Cavaliers haven't advanced past the second round of the playoffs since 2018. Mobley has reached the conference finals. Neither has Donovan Mitchell or Jarrett Allen.

Mitchell is eligible to sign an extension with Cleveland this offseason, while James Harden has a player option for next season that he's expected to decline to enter free agency. If the Cavaliers don't perform well in the 2026 playoffs, there is a scenario where Mitchell doesn't sign an extension and becomes a trade candidate and Harden leaves the team in free agency.
