Cleveland Cavaliers star James Harden has been in the NBA since 2009.

After the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday, James Harden was asked how much longer he wants to play in the NBA.

Harden, who has been in the NBA since 2009, knows his time in the league is coming to an end soon.

Harden turns 37 in August. Not everyone can play until their 40s like LeBron James, so it will be fascinating to see how many more years Harden plays in the NBA.

A future Hall of Famer, Harden is making $39.4 million this season, with $13.3 million of his $42.3 million salary for next season guaranteed. The 2018 MVP had sought more security in negotiations with the Los Angeles Clippers last offseason, but Los Angeles declined to offer him a longer-term deal because of his age and an organizational prioritization of long-term flexibility.

The Cavaliers are widely expected to sign Harden to a new deal this offseason. The Arizona State has been a great fit alongside Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, averaging 19.3 points, 5.1 rebounds and 8.0 assists per game in a Cleveland uniform.

One of the greatest players in NBA history, Harden has played for the Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Nets, Philadelphia 76ers, Clippers and Cavaliers. The 11-time All-Star holds career averages of 24.1 points, 5.6 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game.

Cleveland hasn't advanced past the second round of the playoffs since 2018. It will be intriguing to see how far the team goes in the 2026 playoffs with Harden in fold next to Mitchell, Mobley and Allen.

Harden made the NBA Finals in 2012 as a member of the Thunder. OKC lost to James and the Miami Heat in five games. Harden hasn't gotten back to the NBA Finals since then.
