The Cleveland Cavaliers displayed how deep a team they are in their victory over the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Cleveland Cavaliers' matchup against the Memphis Grizzlies on Monday evening marked the fourth-to-last game of the regular season.

As the Wine and Gold get closer to the playoffs, they want to make sure the team is as healthy as it can be, and held out six players, including Donovan Mitchell (ankle), James Harden (personal), Thomas Bryant (left calf), Max Strus (foot management), Jaylon Tyson, (toe), and Dean Wade (ankle) from the game.

Still, the Cavaliers came away with a convincing 142-126 victory over Memphis, and the biggest standout in the win was Cleveland’s depth.

The Cavaliers had one of their more balanced scoring attacks of the season, with nine players scoring in double figures.

The players to score in double figures included:

  • Evan Mobley - 24 points
  • Dennis Schroder - 22 points
  • Sam Merrill - 21 points
  • Keon Ellis - 19 points
  • Jarrett Allen - 13 points
  • Craig Porter Jr. - 11 points
  • Larry Nance Jr. - 10 points
  • Tyrese Proctor - 10 points
  • Nae’Qwan Tomlin - 10 points

It’s the third time in franchise history that Cleveland has had nine players score 10 or more points in a game. The second time actually happened earlier in the season when the Cavaliers took on the New Orleans Pelicans on December 23.

Monday also marked the team’s 50th win of the season, which Kenny Atkinson

“A real credit to this roster. Sure, we got the big guns, we got our superstars, but we were also, 15 [players] deep, and tonight was a great example of that, all the contributions from our bench guys,” said Cleveland’s coach after the game.

“That's been the one, you know, one of the big positives about having to play so many guys. These guys are all ready… I give our depth a lot of credit for getting to this 50-win mark.”

The showcase of Cleveland’s depth this close to the playoffs should make the Cavaliers feel that much more comfortable about the pieces they can fit together for a potential playoff rotation, but so many guys playing so well won’t make coming up with that rotation any easier.

Teams that make deep playoff runs typically have the star power and depth to match up and adapt to any opponent. It looks like the Cavaliers have just that, but we’ll have to wait until the postseason to see if it all comes together.
