Jarrett Allen fueled a tough Game 7 win, as the Cleveland Cavaliers overcame the Toronto Raptors' relentlessness to secure a hard-fought playoff series win.
The Cleveland Cavaliers defended home court and won Game 7 vs. the Toronto Raptors 114-102, claiming the series victory 4-3. Spencer German and Spencer Davies look back on the challenge in Courtside with Cavs.
It was not easy by any means, but the Cleveland Cavaliers are moving on to the second round of the NBA playoffs after being thoroughly tested by the Toronto Raptors over the past two weeks.
It was a battle that required a ton of mental toughness, focus, and an even-keeled approach. The Cavs did not play their best basketball consistently, and the guys even admitted how difficult it was to put the Raptors away for good in Game 7. That should prove to be a benefit as the postseason advances.
Spencer German and Spencer Davies detailed Sunday's pivotal Game 7 in a brand new episode of Courtside with Cavs from Rocket Arena.
Topics of the latest show include the following:
- The best playoff game of Jarrett Allen's career couldn't have come at a more perfect time. With Evan Mobley in foul trouble and Cleveland's backcourt being hounded, the 28-year-old big man delivered in a huge way. In the third quarter alone, Allen recorded a double-double, and he finished with 22 points, 19 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 steals, and 2 assists. There was an attitude he brought to the table that galvanized the group.
- With all of the attention on Donovan Mitchell and James Harden, the Cavs put together a team-wide performance that pushed them over the edge. Max Strus set the tone by taking multiple charges and being an irritant to Scottie Barnes, Sam Merrill nailed some timely threes and switched seamlessly, and Jaylon Tyson utilized his cutting and playmaking abilities while maintaining his defensive focus.
- Though Mobley got into foul trouble throughout the game, he didn't allow it to halt the momentum he started the game with. It was a difficult night to navigate with the whistle, which makes his response and performance all the more encouraging.
- To a man, the Cavs gave the Raptors their flowers for the gauntlet they put them through. Toronto earned its praise, and the organization should be thrilled about its direction after a solid season.
- Cleveland's next opponent is the Detroit Pistons in the second round, and that should bring about plenty of storylines. Between the scuffles midseason, J.B. Bickerstaff leading the East's top seed, and friends-turned-foes, this will be appointment television.
