The Cleveland Cavaliers' biggest opponent for the rest of the regular season is time.

For the first time all season, the Cleveland Cavaliers are the healthiest they’ve been. Max Strus returned from his foot injury a few weeks back, and Jarrett Allen made his return to the floor after missing a month with a knee injury on Friday evening.

That said, Clevland is still waiting for Dean Wade (ankle) and Jaylon Tyson (toe) to get back on the floor.

When the Cavaliers are at full strength, on paper, they have one of the best rosters in the Eastern Conference. But it takes much more than just talented players to build a championship-caliber team.

Looking at a possible playoff lineup of James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, Max Strus, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen, that group hasn’t played a single minute together yet.

Another potential grouping that could see time together is Harden, Mitchell, Sam Merrill, Mobley, and Allen, and they’ve only played 19 minutes together.

The four-man lineup of Harden, Mitchell, Mobley, and Allen has only played 48 minutes together. Albeit, it's been a strong 48 minutes with the group owning a net rating of 38.4 in that span.

It’s a similar theme for other combinations, too; there just isn’t a lot of time and experience with one another, and learning to play with each other can take time.

While it’s great, the roster is arguably at its healthiest point it's been all year; time isn’t something the Cavaliers have.

As it stands, Cleveland has just eight regular-season games left before the playoffs start. Five of those games will be on the road as part of a late-season West Coast road trip, and include two back-to-backs, leaving very little time for practice, too.

Is that enough time for the Cavaliers to get everyone on the same page before the postseason? Cleveland is confident that it is.

“I think so,” said Allen on this topic after Friday’s win over the Miami Heat.

“We're a bunch of guys that's played high-level basketball, and James, he's so adaptable to being any type of system.
I know me, Ev, and Don. We know how to play basketball with each other, and James, you could put him in any system in the NBA, and he'll be okay.”

At this point in the year, Cleveland’s biggest challenge isn’t a specific opponent; it's putting the pieces together quickly. Allen is confident that the team can overcome the ticking clock, and the next two weeks will determine if that’s true.
