Former Cleveland Cavaliers star LeBron James has dropped heavily in a new player ranking entering the NBA season.
The Cleveland Cavaliers have seen all sorts of talented players come through the organization over the years. But none have come close to the status of LeBron James.
James is easily the best player in franchise history for the Cavaliers, without anyone coming close to him. The legend brought a title back to the city of Cleveland, as well as James breaking all sorts of records as a member of the organization.
Being from Akron, James is a local hero as well, adding more to the extreme legacy that he has built within the Cavaliers organization. James has spent two different stints with Cleveland, with both being successful runs within his NBA journey.
Now with the Philadelphia 76ers, James is embarking on the final chapter of his NBA career. James will be starting up his 24th season in the league, which is an unprecedented run for any player.
But this just goes to show how special James truly is on the court. And despite his advanced age, James remains one of the better players in the NBA.
In a new top 100 player ranking for the 2026-27 NBA season, James was still ranked in the top 20 of stars. The former Cavaliers legend came in ranked at No. 18 overall, which saw him drop down 10 spots from where he was a year ago.
Last season with the Los Angeles Lakers, James still managed to help the team get into the playoffs. James also led the Lakers to a postseason series win, without the services of his two co-stars in Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves.
For the year, James averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, 1.2 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. James appeared in 60 games last year after dealing with an injury early on in the season.
The former Cavaliers star can still play with the best of the best in this league, even at his age of 41. The NBA is unlikely to ever see someone like this again, and the city of Cleveland understands how special of a talent James is.
Now that James is back in the Eastern Conference, the Cavaliers could face off against James in the playoffs potentially. Both the Cavaliers and the 76ers are expected to be two of the best teams in the East, giving thought to an iconic playoff series upcoming.
Of course, the two teams will need to go through the regular season first. But this could be one of the more memorable moments for both sides if it were to take place.
