The rumors surrounding the Cleveland Cavaliers have reached an all-time high with just over 48 hours remaining before the NBA trade deadline arrives.
Most notably, the Cavaliers and Los Angeles Clippers have reportedly been working on a blockbuster trade that would send James Harden to Cleveland. In exchange, the Cavaliers would be giving up point guard Darius Garland back to the Clippers.
Other reports have suggested that Cleveland could trade center Jarrett Allen.
It's clear that the Cavaliers are open for business as the trade deadline approaches. Whether or not they will actually making a big trade or not remains to be seen.
Former Cleveland star forward Kevin Love has also become a topic of conversation leading up to the deadline. Now with the Utah Jazz, the 37-year-old power forward could be an interesting depth option for a playoff contender.
CBS Sports mentioned Love's name as a possible trade chip for the Jazz leading up to the deadline.
"Utah is expected to hold onto core players such as Markkanen and George at the trade deadline, but veterans Kevin Love or Kyle Anderson could be dealt as the team looks to continue its rebuilding efforts."
Love not pursuing a buyout from Utah prior to now was surprising to many. He spoke out about his reasoning for staying with the Jazz.
“But again, even if I’m not playing, I think my role — it’s great to have a role in my 18th season — is being able to be that veteran leader, a sound voice, somebody that preaches and acts on accountability and just continues to show what professionalism looks like every single day," Love said in an interview with ESports Insider.
So far this season, Love has played in 27 games and made five starts for Utah. He has averaged 6.8 points per game to go along with 5.8 rebounds and 1.8 assists. Love has also shot 38.7 percent from the floor and 34.6 percent from three-point range.
Even though he is no longer a star in the NBA, he's more than capable of making an impact. Whether that impact comes on the court or in a leadership role, he's still a valuable asset at this stage of his career.
