A blockbuster four-team NBA trade idea sending Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Cleveland Cavaliers has been created.
Eric Pincus of Bleacher Report has created a blockbuster four-team NBA trade idea sending Giannis Antetokounmpo from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Here is the trade idea:
Thunder get: Evan Mobley (from Cavaliers), 2026 No. 29 (from Cavaliers), $28.5 million trade exception (Isaiah Hartenstein), $11.3 million trade exception (Isaiah Joe)
Cavaliers get: Giannis Antetokounmpo (from Bucks), 2026 No. 43 (from Nets)
Bucks get: Jalen Williams (from Thunder), Isaiah Joe (from Thunder), Day'Ron Sharpe (from Nets), 2026 No. 17 (from Thunder)
Nets get: Isaiah Hartenstein (from Thunder), Aaron Wiggins (from Thunder), Aaron Wiggins (from Thunder)
The Cavaliers made the Eastern Conference Finals this year for the first time since 2018. They lost to the New York Knicks in four games.
Mobley is a great young player, but he's not Antetokounmpo and Cleveland needs to understand that.
Antetokounmpo and the Bucks are expected to part ways this summer. Milwaukee would ask for Mobley in trade talks with Cleveland involving Antetokounmpo. The Cavaliers, led by Dan Gilbert and Koby Altman, need to understand that they are not going to win a title with Mobley, Donovan Mitchell, James Harden and Jarrett Allen. We just watched them get embarrassingly destroyed by the Knicks.
Mobley is an All-Star. Antetokounmpo is a SUPERSTAR. That's the difference between making the conference finals and winning it all.
A "Big 4" of Antetokounmpo, Mitchell, Harden and Allen can compete for a title. Antetokounmpo holds career averages of 24.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. Mobley will NEVER put up those numbers.
It will be fascinating to see where Antetokounmpo is playing next season. The future Hall of Famer was pursued by Cleveland at this year's trade deadline.
"It's easy to overlook that Cleveland finished their best postseason run since LeBron James was on the roster, but the sweep by the New York Knicks ended the year with a downer," Pincus wrote. "The chance to bolster the squad with one of the top players in the NBA leads the Cavaliers to trade one of their young pillars in Mobley."
If the Cavaliers trade for Antetokounmpo, maybe LeBron James decides to come home for one final ride. A starting lineup of Harden, Mitchell, LeBron, Antetokounmpo and Allen looks lethal on paper.
