Cleveland Cavaliers guard Keon Ellis becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

After the Cleveland Cavaliers beat the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn, Keon Ellis opened up about his future with the Cavaliers.

Ellis becomes an unrestricted free agent this offseason.

"I think me being in this situation helps everyone," Ellis said. "Going into the summer, we’ll see where all the cards end up, but I do think it’s a good situation for both sides. We can both help each other. Who knows what’ll happen in the summer? I definitely think it’s a great situation to be in, coming from Sacramento to here now. I’m definitely excited about it for sure."

The Cavaliers acquired Ellis from the Sacramento Kings. Ellis is averaging 6.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.4 blocks per game with Cleveland while shooting 50.0% from the field, 33.3% from beyond the arc and 50.0% from the free-throw line.

Ellis is one of the top two-way players in the NBA. He's helped the Cavaliers become more dangerous on both sides of the ball and will play a big role for the Wine and Gold in the 2026 playoffs.

If Ellis plays well in the 2026 playoffs, expect Cleveland to sign the veteran to a new contract once free agency begins. Ellis holds career averages of 6.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game with Sacramento and Cleveland.

The Cavaliers are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings. Kenny Atkinson's group is under major pressure to reach the NBA Finals this season after trading for James Harden.

Cleveland hasn't gotten past the second round of the playoffs since 2018. Donovan Mitchell and Co. had the top record in the East last season but lost to the Indiana Pacers in the second round in five games.

It will be fascinating to see how far the Cavaliers go in the 2026 playoffs with Mitchell, Harden, Ellis, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen leading the way.
