The 2015-16 Cleveland Cavaliers, led by All-Stars LeBron James, Kyrie Irving and Kevin Love, are ranked the 89th-best sports team of all time by Bleacher Report.
The Cavaliers went 57-25 during the 2015-16 regular season. They were the first seed in the 2016 Eastern Conference playoffs.
Cleveland defeated the Detroit Pistons, Atlanta Hawks and Toronto Raptors to reach the 2016 NBA Finals, where LeBron and Co. faced the 73-9 Golden State Warriors, the greatest regular-season NBA team of all time.
The Cavaliers fell down 3-1 against the Warriors in the 2016 NBA Finals. Everyone thought the series was over. After all, no team in NBA had erased a 3-1 series deficit in the NBA Finals.
However, LeBron and Irving each scored 41 points in Game 5 in Golden State to force a Game 6 back in Cleveland, where LeBron put up 41 points again and led the Cavaliers to a blowout win, setting up a Game 7 in Golden State.
Game 7 of the 2016 NBA Finals between the Cavaliers and Warriors is one for the ages. Cleveland won 93-89 behind 27 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists from LeBron, who had the block on Andre Iguodala to set up Irving's game-winning shot over Stephen Curry.
LeBron, as everyone knows, is the greatest player in Cleveland franchise history. In two stints (2003-10, 2014-18) with the Cavaliers, LeBron averaged 27.2 points, 7.3 rebounds, 7.3 assists, 1.6 steals and 0.8 blocks per game. He won two MVPs and one Finals MVP and made 10 All-Star and 10 All-NBA teams.
Many people thought LeBron would return to the Cavaliers this summer after leaving the Los Angeles Lakers. However, the NBA legend signed a two-year deal with the Philadelphia 76ers.
It's too bad we won't get to see LeBron play for Cleveland again. The King said the 76ers will be his last stop in the NBA.
"This is my last decision," LeBron wrote on social media. "I’m not going for money. I’m not going for family. What am I really playing for at this point? I still want to sacrifice. I still want to work. I still want to grind. I still want to compete, to win and to have a chance at the feeling of winning another championship.
“I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team and I am so excited to energize a new fan base and start this incredible journey one last time. Thank you LA. Miami I’ll forever love and Northeast Ohio will always home!”
