The Cleveland Cavaliers could acquire Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo this offseason.
According to Gery Woelfel, the Cleveland Cavaliers could trade Evan Mobley to the Milwaukee Bucks for Giannis Antetokounmpo this summer.
The Bucks and Antetokounmpo are expected to part ways this offseason.
Antetokounmpo will make $58.5 million next season. He has a player option worth $62.8 million for the 2027-28 season. The two-time MVP is eligible to sign a four-year, $275 million extension with the Bucks on October 1. If he declines the extension, Antetokounmpo will be traded, according to Milwaukee co-owner Wes Edens.
Antetokounmpo holds career averages of 24.1 points, 9.9 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.2 blocks per game. It will be fascinating to see where he's playing next season.
If the Cavaliers lose to the Detroit Pistons in the second round of the playoffs, Cleveland's front office may break up the core this summer. The Wine and Gold haven't advanced past the second round of the playoffs with Mobley, Donovan Mitchell and Jarrett Allen leading the way.
The Cavaliers made a blockbuster trade this season, acquiring future Hall of Famer James Harden from the Los Angeles Clippers. Cleveland traded Darius Garland to acquire Harden, who is still searching for his first NBA championship.
Harden has a player option for next season. He's expected to decline it and become an unrestricted free agent. Meanwhile, Mitchell is eligible to sign an extension this offseason. If the shooting guard doesn't sign one, the Cavaliers could trade him.
It will be intriguing to see if the Cavaliers call the Bucks again this summer about an Antetokounmpo trade. A "Big 3" of Antetokounmpo, Mitchell and Harden would certainly be fun to watch.
Mobley will make $50.1 million next season. The 2024-25 Defensive Player of the Year has career averages of 16.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists, 0.8 steals and 1.6 blocks per game.
