LeBron James is going to take his time.
LeBron James' agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports Group, said on the latest episode of his podcast that LeBron will not be "rushed" into picking his next team.
Paul's comments came in the wake of NBA commissioner Adam Silver saying LeBron needs to make his decision ASAP so that the league can come up with the 2026-27 schedule.
"We're not going to be rushed," Paul said on the latest podcast episode of "Game Over" with Max Kellerman and Rich Paul, released Monday evening. "We're not going to be rushed. It's his choice to make and when he makes the choice, he'll make it. ... I saw Adam in New York and we discussed it. And like I said, it's still his choice. So if he doesn't really know, you can't rush it. You can't rush it."
LeBron is expected to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Golden State Warriors, Miami Heat or Philadelphia 76ers. Many people believe LeBron will sign with the Cavaliers. Cleveland assistant general manager Brandon Weems was with LeBron in Ohio a few weekends ago.
Weems is one of LeBron's closest friends.
For the Los Angeles Lakers last season, LeBron averaged 20.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 7.2 assists per game. He's still an elite offensive player despite being the oldest active player in the NBA.
"I think it's important for people to understand: We're not making this about attention and a spectacle," Paul said. "It's not about a 'Decision' or anything like that. He has a choice to make. He has a business choice to make. We're not going to sit here and decide or allow someone else to decide when he makes that decision. ... It's a business choice that he's making. And I think as an athlete, why is it that an athlete has to rush his choice?"
It would certainly be cool to see LeBron end his career in Cleveland. A starting lineup of James Harden, Donovan Mitchell, LeBron, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen could compete for the championship next season.
The Cavaliers made the conference finals last season, losing to the New York Knicks in four quick games. Adding LeBron could make Cleveland title favorites next season.
It's unknown when LeBron will make his decision. It sounds like Paul doesn't even know.
"These people don't know anything," Paul said. "I don't know when his choice is going to be made, but it could be 48 seconds [from now]. It could be 48 minutes. I don't know. Again, you can't make somebody know something that they don't know."
