Resilient wins and a 76ers sweep fuel questions. Is this surge the Cavs' true potential, or a fleeting glimpse of brilliance?

Following arguably their most resilient win of the season and sweeping the Philadelphia 76ers on the road, the Cleveland Cavaliers have a 24-19 record.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are slowly but surely scaling the Eastern Conference ranks as they begin to resemble the team of last season. Despite still having their defensive shortcomings, the wine and gold have had one of the best offenses in the NBA over the last two weeks.

But is this a sign of what is to come for the Cavs, or is it another momentary stretch that will dissolve with more bad injury luck? It looks like it could be the former, but it's been a case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde in the first few months.

In an episode of Courtside with Cavs, Spencer German and I discussed the inconsistencies that Cleveland has had halfway into the campaign:

"Do you want to explain them to me? I can't do it. I'm positive after this, obviously, but the first thing that came to my mind is how mad everybody has to be that is watching this team and has watched this team for the last two-and-a-half months. Where has this been?

"In terms of just the effort, setting the tone, being the ones to hit first, playing with force... I just can't put my finger on it. It shows you, with results, what you can be at your best. And that's what they're capable of."

After sweeping their two-game series with the Philadelphia 76ers, the Cavs are now home. Cleveland will host the reigning NBA champion Oklahoma City Thunder in a matinee affair at Rocket Arena on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, then go on the road to take on the Charlotte Hornets on Wednesday.

Cleveland will face the Sacramento Kings at Rocket Arena on Friday before a home-and-home series with the Orlando Magic.
