With key players healing and ample practice time, the Cleveland Cavaliers are getting the chance to gel further, positioning them for a surge in the NBA playoffs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have not been the picture of health this season, but their roster is becoming more whole. Having ample practice time with almost everyone available is critical before the NBA playoffs.

This week, the Cleveland Cavaliers had the opportunity to get true practice reps and gel with one another for the first time seemingly since mid-February, as the team is getting healthier by the day.

Aside from Thomas Bryant, whose left calf strain recovery is ahead of schedule, the Wine and Gold have almost a clean injury sheet in terms of availability. We know that Jarrett Allen admitted on Thursday that he's not 100 percent due to right knee tendinitis, but he feels he can be effective while also managing the pain.

Other than that, five-and-a-half days of preparation for this bunch is a positive sign, in terms of team chemistry and the players nursing themselves back to full health.

In an episode of Courtside with Cavs, Spencer German and I spoke on where the squad is at entering this weekend:

You just have all these knick-knack things going on, and all this stuff is popping up when they've done such a good job in the past of maintaining their bodies and maintaining their injuries. It just seems like nothing, even preventative measures, can stop them from having this bad luck.

So you hope that the week in between is going to give them time to lick their wounds a little bit and get prepared and have as close to a whole roster as possible. As we talked about at the trade deadline, it's so hard to get everybody on the same page when not everyone's available, and not everyone's been available. So we'll see what this week in between [the end of the season] and the playoffs does for the Cavs.

The Cavs tip off the NBA playoffs against the Raptors on Saturday at Rocket Arena at 1 p.m. We also know that Game 2 is at 7 p.m. ET in downtown Cleveland.

The series will shift to Toronto for Game 3 at Scotiabank Arena on Thursday at 8 p.m. ET. Game 4 will be another afternoon tilt from up north, scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.

If necessary, April 29, May 1, and May 3 will be the dates for Games 5-7.
