The Cleveland Cavaliers looked more like the playoff contender they are in their victory over the Phoenix Suns.

The Cleveland Cavaliers followed up their victory over the San Antonio Spurs with another convincing win, this time coming against the Phoenix Suns, 129-113.

As the Wine and Gold continue to get back on track, here are three takeaways from their latest win.

Cavaliers Ride Fast Start

The Cavaliers could’ve shown up to Rocket Arena coming off a three-game road trip and gotten off to a slow start, and in some ways, it would’ve been understandable. Thankfully, that’s not what happened as Cleveland rode their quick start to the finish line.

In the first quarter, the Cavaliers outscored the Suns 37-21 while shooting 50 percent from the floor and 42 percent from behind the arc. This impressive quarter included a 13-0 run by the Wine and Gold and 10 fast-break points.

Cleveland’s quick start is what allowed them to fend off a Suns comeback in the third quarter and was a key reason for the victory.

Cleveland’s Core-Four Showed Up

Believers in this Cavaliers team have been urging everyone to stay patient and wait to judge Cleveland when their full roster is healthy, and the Core Four are playing at their full potential. That’s exactly what happened against the Suns, and it was glorious.

Donovan Mitchell (34 points, 10 rebounds), Jarrett Allen (16 points, 11 rebounds), and Evan Mobley (16 points, 10 rebounds) each logged double-doubles, and Darius Garland added 19 points and six assists of his own.

This was the brand of basketball the Cavaliers played a year ago, and it’s great to see them getting back to that level.

Jaylon Tyson’s Impactful 31-Minute Performance

Jaylon Tyson led all Cavaliers in playing time with 31 minutes. The wing didn’t let any of those minutes go to waste as he scored 18 points while shooting 43 percent from the floor and 50 percent from behind the arc.

Tyson did not record a steal or block, but his defensive effort and shot-contesting can’t go overlooked either.

By the end of the game, Tyson looked gassed, and deservedly so, but his energy once again fueled the Cavaliers when they needed it and led to a Wine and Gold winner.
