The Courtside with Cavs podcast is back and in full swing!
Spencer Davies and Spencer German have another jam-packed episode of their weekly Cleveland Cavaliers podcast as NBA Media Day draws nearer.
Before Sept. 29 rolls around, the guys discussed multiple topics in their latest dialogue, including:
Who on the Cavs will fill the void of Ty Jerome as he exits stage left and joins the Memphis Grizzlies? The obvious answer may be Lonzo Ball, who was acquired over the offseason, but there may be a couple of other candidates, including a player who earned a long-term contract this offseason and a sophomore standout who is yearning for playing time.
Craig Porter Jr. and Tyrese Proctor will need to step up with Cleveland having injuries, but do either of the two have the upper hand? Porter missed all but half a quarter at the NBA Summer League, while Proctor took full advantage of his chances in Las Vegas.
With a full training camp ahead, De'Andre Hunter is poised to have a critical role this season for the Cavs. Does he continue to come off the bench? With Max Strus out for months with a Jones fracture, is Hunter a shoo-in for a starting role?
Darius Garland will also be out for the first 10 games or so of Cleveland's season as he recovers from big toe surgery. Prior to the unfortunate timing of his injury, Garland was enjoying a terrific bounce-back season that saw him make the second NBA All-Star Game of his career. Can he repeat despite not playing in the first few weeks of the 2025-26 season?
With Jayson Tatum and Tyrese Haliburton both down with devastating injuries, the Eastern Conference is up for the taking. The Cavs are one of the favorites to make their first NBA Finals appearances since 2018, but the New York Knicks could stand in their way. Let's not forget about another upstart, young team that waits in the wings and addressed its shooting deficiencies in late June, too.
