With just three days remaining until the first round of the NBA Draft, the clock is ticking on the Milwaukee Bucks deadline for figuring out what to do with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

While the deadline of the NBA Draft is arbitrary, it makes sense why Milwaukee would want things decided by then. If they are going to acquire picks in the draft, they'd like to be able to use instantly. Furthermore, they'd like to have a resolution before free agency, so they can figure out exactly what their roster needs are.

But as the deadline nears, it's unclear who will blink in the staring contest between Milwaukee and the Boston Celtics.

So far, reporting indicates that the Bucks have an unrealistic trade expectation for Antetokounmpo, while it also indicates that the Celtics believe a 1:1 trade of Jaylen Brown for Antetokounmpo is fair.

Again, it's unclear who will blink. Milwaukee has some leverage in that they don't have to trade Antetokounmpo and can continue to hold out through the offseason or into next season. However, there is risk in doing that, especially if Antetokounmpo gets hurt.

But Milwaukee doesn't have unlimited leverage, because there aren't unlimited suitors for Antetokounmpo in a trade. The Miami Heat are interested, as are the Celtics, so the Celtics don't have much need to go above and beyond in their offer since there isn't much competition.

Brown finished sixth in the MVP voting this past season. He's the best individual player Milwaukee would likely get in a trade.

A 13-year veteran of the Bucks, he's a 10-time All-Star, a nine-time All-NBA selection, a five-time All-Defensive team member and a two-time MVP. He won the NBA championship with Milwaukee in 2021 and has been named NBA Finals MVP and NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

A dominant presence in the paint, he averaged 27.6 ppg last season, but he played only 36 games. And that's the rub with Antetokounmpo: He isn't always available. He's played more than 70 games just once in the last seven years.

He's 31 years old and is headed for a free agent deal, maybe even as early as next offseason. If the Celtics sign him, they'd have to extend him at a big money deal into his mid and late-30s.

Boston has picks No. 27 and No. 40 in the NBA Draft, though it's unclear if they'll use them. They've been tied to several players, including Alex Karaban and Tarris Reed Jr. of UConn and Henri Veesaar of North Carolina. Meleek Thomas of Arkansas is a newer name who has emerged as well.
