The Celtics owner spoke on WEEI on Tuesday morning about needing to be "convinced" about the trade of the MVP finalist.
Back in July, the Boston Celtics shocked the basketball world by trading Jaylen Brown, who had starred for them for 10 years, to the Philadelphia 76ers for a seemingly underwhelming trade package that was centered around veteran Paul George.
It wasn't clear if the motivation for the deal was the Celtics desire to get future financial flexibility, more immediate roster depth or if they simply wanted to change up their style of play moving forward, but regardless, the deal got done.
Speaking on Tuesday morning's "The Greg Hill Show," Celtics owner Bill Chisholm spoke about the trade, saying that he needed to be convinced of the move. He added that it is hard to separate the ownership portion of his life from the "fan" portion of his life, and he also said that he was certainly worried about what fans would think of the move, at least to a degree. But he trusts his front office and trusts their conviction in the move, and he says that we'll now see how it all ultimately plays out.

The former No. 3 pick in the draft (2015), Brown has spent all 10 seasons of his career in Boston. With the Celtics, he blossomed into a five-time All-Star and a two-time All-NBA selection. He helped the Celtics get to the NBA Finals in 2021-22 and also helped them win the Finals in 2023-24. He won NBA Finals MVP in the latter trip.
He averaged a career-high 28.7 ppg last season, helping cover for the absence of Jayson Tatum, who played only 16 games while recovering from a torn Achilles suffered in 2024-25 playoffs.
One of the most successful players in the 2000s, he could someday end up with his No. 7 retired by the organization.
But for now, he'll work on trying to beat the Celtics and earn the 76ers their first title since 1983.
Elsewhere in Celtics news
We have yet to hear official press conferences from the C's offseason moves (George, Mitchell Robinson and Mike Conley), but we have heard from George and Robinson on a recent edition of Celtics All-Access, which was released over the weekend.
The duo spoke about their excitement level at being in Boston and we heard what Brad Stevens had to say about both George and Conley as well.
When Conley suits up for Boston, he will be just the 14th player in NBA history to play in 20 seasons.
