Jayson Tatum and Payton Pritchard helped carry the offense as the Celtics moved one step closer to the Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Boston Celtics moved one step closer to the Eastern Conference semifinals on Sunday night, routing the Philadelphia 76ers 128-96 on their home floor.
The Celtics, who have been to the NBA Finals twice in the last four years, now lead the series 3-1. They are legitimate contenders to get to the NBA Finals again this year, especially with the top-seeded Pistons down 2-1 in their best-of-seven series against the No. 8 Orlando Magic.
As we covered in the game recap, Payton Pritchard played an integral role in the Boston victory on Sunday, scoring a game-high 32 points in 35 minutes of action. He went 6-of-12 from three-point range and continued to excel in late-quarter and end-of-shot clock situations.
But it wasn't just Pritchard, of course, as Jayson Tatum also contributed 30 points on 8-of-16 shooting while going 5-of-10 from three-point range. He had seven rebounds and 11 assists and combined with Pritchard to make some rare NBA history.
Per ESPN Insights:
DOUBLE THE TROUBLE WENT INTO PHILLY
Jayson Tatum and Payton Pritchard are the 8th duo in NBA history to each have 30 PTS and 5 threes in a playoff game (first since Jalen Brunson and Luka Doncic in 2022).
Pritchard has continued to grow each season of his career, especially evolving from a few years ago when he asked to be traded out of Boston. The former first-round pick averaged a career-high 17.0 ppg in this campaign, helping carry the offense in the wake of Tatum's recovery from Achilles surgery and the departures of Al Horford, Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holliday.
He started 50 of 79 games this season, but has shifted back to a bench role, making himself one of the most valuable Sixth Men in the league. He won the award last season.
