Chris Cenac Jr. did a lot of good things as Boston beat the Toronto Raptors in the first game of Summer League.
The Boston Celtics defeated the Toronto Raptors 83-80 in the first game of the Las Vegas Summer League on Friday night, winning the game in overtime to move to 1-0 in the Summer League session.
The Celtics will have three more Summer League games before a potential Summer League playoff game. The semifinals of the Summer League are on July 18 with the final on July 19.
This contest was the first look for fans at first round draft pick Chris Cenac Jr. (Houston) and second round pick Dillon Mitchell (St. John's), and Cenac certainly didn't disappoint.
Though he didn't start, he played 29 minutes off the bench, scoring 14 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. He also had four blocks, showing off his athleticism. He hit the game-tying three-pointer to send the game to overtime with under two seconds to play.
A 6-foot-11 center from New Orleans, Cenac played for Kelvin Sampson with the Cougars, seeing time in 37 collegiate games. He started 36 of those contests, playing 25 minutes a game and averaging 9.5 points and 7.9 rebounds. Long and athletic, he also averaged 0.5 blocks per night and he also had 0.8 steals.
He took four 3-pointers a night in college, so it's not completely unusual to see him shoot from beyond the arc. He was 2-for-4 for the Celtics, and while his athleticism and ability inside the lane is going to be his calling card, if he has the ability to step out and shoot from deep? Then that opens up another world of possibilities for the C's offense.

The other rookie had a more muted debut, scoring four points in 26 minutes. Mitchell started, going 2-for-6 from the floor. He had three rebounds, two steals, two blocks and two turnovers.
