The Celtics played their starters and dominated their rivals on Saturday night at TD Garden.
The Boston Celtics moved to 2-0 in the preseason with a 144-106 trouncing of the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday night at TD Garden.
While a blowout win is always nice, especially against a longstanding rival, it can't be understated enough that Jaylen Brown, LeBron James, Tyrese Maxey and Joel Embiid didn't play for Philly. Boston played all of its starters after sitting them against them the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Here's what you need to know.
3-point shot reigns supreme
The group of mostly bench players attempted 47 three-pointers on Thursday, and the group of starters attempted 48 on Saturday. It's obvious that the long-distance shot remains the core tenant of the Celtics offense.
Boston was 22-for-48 from distance, connecting at a 46 percent rate.
That'll play.
New faces debut
Mike Conley played on Thursday night, but this marked the first Celtics game for Mitchell Robinson and Paul George, acquired this offseason.
Robinson started, but played only 14 minutes. He scored six points on 3-of-5 shooting and he pulled down five rebounds. George played 25 minutes, struggling to find his shot in a 3-of-10 performance. He had 13 points and did connect on five of six free-throws.
Pritchard stays hot
The trade of Brown may have opened up an opportunity for Pritchard to take yet another step in his development. Coming off the bench again, Pritchard had 25 points in 24 minutes. He was 7-of-12 from the floor and 5-of-8 from three-point range. He also hit all six free-throws he attempted.
He has grown each year of his career, and he could be trending toward an All-Star level at this rate.
Queta makes impact
We've wondered how the minutes will get split up between Robinson and Neemias Queta at center, and we saw Queta play 19 minutes on Saturday. And he certainly made those minutes count, as he scored six points and pulled down 10 rebounds.
Derrick White's shooting woes
A big focus of the offseason was "how would Derrick White come back and shoot this season?" Well, after an offseason of conversation and working on it, White scored 15 points on 5-of-11 shooting. However, he was just 1-of-5 from three-point range, which won't quell the worry about his ability to connect from deep.
Up next
The Celtics will be back in action again on Wednesday night against the Charlotte Hornets at TD Garden. Tip-off time is set for 7:30 p.m. ET.
The season begins on Oct. 20.
