Kevin O'Connor of Yahoo! Sports feels good about the C's in this campaign.
The Boston Celtics earned their first win of the season on Friday night, defeating the New York Knicks 107-103 at TD Garden.
The win was imperfect, as Payton Pritchard, Mitchell Robinson, and Sam Hauser struggled, but we saw a much better performance from Jayson Tatum, who had 36 points.
At 1-1, we obviously still have a ton of runway left in the regular season, but noted NBA analyst Kevin O'Connor feels good about the C's right now, saying he believes they can get to the NBA Finals.
In speaking with CLNS Celtics, he cited the team's upside and the questions regarding the other teams around them in the East.
Why he might be right
To O'Connor's point, the other teams around the Celtics do have some questions that need answering...
1) The Knicks don't have as much front court depth as they did a year ago after losing Robinson, and do they have a consistent third scorer after Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns?
2) The 76ers: How will age and injury history impact things, specifically with Joel Embiid and LeBron James?
3) The Heat have questions in their backcourt after trading Tyler Herro to the Milwaukee Bucks.
4) The Cavaliers: Can a team with two ball-dominant guards really win the title?
5) The Magic: Can Paolo Banchero stay healthy? Not yet. He's already out 4-6 weeks with an ankle injury.
6) The Raptors: Can Kawhi Leonard stay healthy? Something he's routinely had trouble doing.

Look, despite all the questions about these other teams, I've said all along that I think the Celtics are headed for a 5-6 seed in the Eastern Conference. I still think some of these other teams are better than the Celtics, though I admit that the upside is greater than I initially thought, especially if Paul George stays healthy.
That said, I worry that George won't be able to stay healthy enough to give this team exactly what it needs. That would obviously stifle the upside and limit what the Celtics can do.
And that's my greatest worry.
Up next
The Celtics will come back home on Monday night to take on the Chicago Bulls at 7:30 p.m. ET. Chicago is 1-2 on the season after beating Milwaukee on Friday afternoon and losing to the Washington Wizards. That Friday game was moved to the afternoon because of Game 1 of the World Series, which featured the Milwaukee Brewers.
