The Celtics had Media Day on Monday, and Queta gave everybody a laugh.
The Boston Celtics officially kicked off their journey for the 2026-27 season on Monday by hosting Media Day.
On Tuesday, the C's will be on the floor for the first time for the start of practice. In less than one month (Oct. 20), they'll be opening up the regular season against the Detroit Pistons.
Like all seasons, this one comes with anticipation after the Celtics went 56-26 last year but got upended in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
People are excited for the Celtics to be back, excited to see how they respond after that tough playoff loss, and they are excited to see how the team functions without Jaylen Brown, who was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers in the offseason.
Prior to Media Day, we outlined three questions we wanted to see answered at the podiums, and one of them centered on how the collection of big men would work out.
Mitchell Robinson, Neemias Queta and Luka Garza each provide winning traits, as does first-round draft pick Chris Cenac Jr. It will be interesting to see how head coach Joe Mazzulla works them each into the mix, but one thing seems clear early on: The players themselves have good relationships and don't seem to view the crowded situation as problematic.
Speaking earlier this summer, Queta said he was excited to play with Robinson and wasn't worried about playing time or rotations. Speaking on Monday, Queta revealed the collection of big men, also featuring Amari Williams, has a nickname: Big Fella University.
I've got to say. I like it.

I don't have any doubt that Robinson, Queta, Cenac and Garza will play roles and will all contribute this season. I do wonder exactly what the expectations of "Big Fella University" will be.
Will these players be counted on to score? Will they be counted on to provide real offense, like double-figure type offense? Will they be allowed to initiate offense themselves, or are they there solely to score via put backs and dunks? Are they really just there to offensive rebound and kick back out to 3-point shooters?
I think that's a valid question and one that we'll get answered early on in the season. The Celtics best players are all perimeter players, and that's fine, but I would like to see a little more balance. That balance only comes if the big men are allowed to flourish offensively too. Will they be, or are they solely the support staff?
