After a weekend full of speculation, new reporting has emerged on Monday. According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Boston Celtics are 'all-in' on acquiring two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo in a deal with the Milwaukee Bucks.

A deal could come together by Tuesday, which makes sense because the Bucks have wanted to get something resolved by the time the NBA Draft comes. The draft begins on Tuesday night.

Furthermore, Windhorst believes that Celtics star guard Jaylen Brown is on the table in this deal. The Miami Heat remain interested in acquiring Antetokounmpo and are seen as the other favorite.

Let's dig a little deeper:

A 13-year veteran of the Bucks, he's a 10-time All-Star, a nine-time All-NBA selection, a five-time All-Defensive team member and a two-time MVP. He won the NBA championship with Milwaukee in 2021 and has been named NBA Finals MVP and NBA Defensive Player of the Year.

A dominant presence in the paint, he averaged 27.6 ppg last season, but he played only 36 games. And that's the rub with Antetokounmpo: He isn't always available. He's played more than 70 games just once in the last seven years.

He's 31 years old and if the Celtics complete this trade, they'll have to give him a big money extension into his mid-late 30s.

1) Financially, it lines up. If the Celtics are going to acquire a high-money player, they have to ship out some money as well. Both Brown and Antetokounmpo are max contract players. Furthermore, while the Celtics are invested in winning, they aren't necessarily looking to carry three max contract players (also Jayson Tatum) into their 30s.

2) If the Bucks are going to trade Antetokounmpo, they likely want something of present value. Draft picks are nice, and important, but for a team that is used to being in the playoffs, acquiring something that can help them stay afloat is probably beneficial.

3) If the Celtics move on from Brown, it gives them the freedom to change the way they play, stylistically. Completely three-point dependent, this would break up the guard/forward log jam and give them real balance offensively. It would allow them to play a more traditional positional rotation and be better on the interior.

As stated above: The NBA Draft begins on Tuesday night, meaning the clock is ticking. The Celtics currently have picks No. 27 and No. 40.
