The Celtics are looking to round out their roster for the 2026-27 season and Bradley Beal is reportedly a name to watch.
According to multiple reports, Bradley Beal is a name to watch when it comes to the Boston Celtics for the rest of this offseason.
Beal is a free agent after opting out of his contract with the Los Angeles Clippers earlier this offseason.

About Beal
A 14-year veteran of Florida, Beal has spent most of his career (11 years) with the Washington Wizards, but he also spent two years with the Phoenix Suns and one with the Clippers.
A premier scorer in his day, Beal is a three-time All-Star who also made the All-NBA team in 2020-21. He averaged 22.1 ppg in his career with the Wizards and he averaged more than 30 a game from 2019-21.
However, he's not that player anymore. First off, health has been a major issue for him over the last several years.
He played just 40 games in the 2021-22 season, 50 in the 2022-23 season, 53 in the 2023-24 season and 53 again in 2024-25. He played only six last year. He hasn't played more than 60 games since 2018-19. Last season, he had a left hip fracture.
If the Celtics were to sign him, they are likely signing him to be a contributor in the regular season and a bigger part of the playoff rotation.

Beal, like Jayson Tatum, is from St. Louis. The two are longtime friends, meaning that Tatum would likely be happy to share the floor with Beal, should a deal get done.
For Beal's perspective, he likely wants to join a playoff contender. After all, he's played just 49 playoff games in his career. The Celtics, even without Jaylen Brown, are a contender.
How about the money?

The Celtics only have the ability to offer Beal a veteran’s minimum contract or the bi-annual exception after giving Mitchell Robinson the full-mid level exception earlier this month on a three-year deal.
Elsewhere for the Celtics
Speaking this weekend, Team USA Basketball architect Grant Hill spoke about the controversy from 2024 in which then-Celtics star Jaylen Brown was left off the Olympic team. Brown thinks it's because he had been critical of Nike in the past, but Hill gave his side of the story, saying that had nothing to do with it.
The Celtics had their preseason schedule released on Monday, and they'll see Brown twice, including once at TD Garden.
