The New York Knicks beat the San Antonio Spurs on Saturday night to capture the organization's first NBA title in 53 years.

For the Knicks, it's the coronation of a lengthy and frustrating building process, and it's also the coronation of Jalen Brunson and Karl-Anthony Towns, two players often doubted throughout their careers.

As Boston Celtics fans watched the title unfold in front of them, I can't help but wonder how they all felt. Anger? Resentment? Bitterness? Apathy? Something else? 

Let's take a little deeper dive.

While it may be unpopular, I'm somewhat relieved to see the Knicks win the title. Now that they have won, perhaps this means they won't make big moves in the offseason, which will make life a little easier for the Celtics next season.

Had New York lost, perhaps they would have spent big in free agency, or made a big trade for Giannis Antetokounmpo in order to chase the title. 

With the title in hand, perhaps Knicks management won't feel the pressure to make a bold move, which is a good thing for Boston.

The overwhelming feeling that Celtics fans should have is that Saturday was a reminder of the missed opportunity in front of them. Boston finished 56-26 in the regular season, a better record than New York. They did that without Jayson Tatum for much of the season.

There's absolutely a world where the Celtics could have and should have beaten the Knicks, and could have and should have won the title for the second time in four years.

The last thing that Celtics fans should be wondering is "how do we beat the Knicks moving forward?" And the answer seems clear, even if the execution is tough.

The Celtics clearly need to play with more grit and toughness, something the Knicks relied on and the Celtics sometimes lack.

While the Celtics play a generally "prettier" brand of basketball, that doesn't always win in the playoffs, and Boston needs to find some of that grit this offseason if it wants to take down the champs.

While nothing appears imminent, the momentum is building for a possible trade of Antetokounmpo to the C's. The idea of a trade gained real traction on Friday, with rumors circulating the Celtics would deal Jaylen Brown, but that there would have to be a third team involved to facilitate it all. 

We could have answer on this by June 23, which is when the NBA Draft begins.
