As the Celtics get ready to begin their playoff run, it's worth revisiting some of the best accomplishments of Brown's season.

The Boston Celtics, who earned the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference, will kick off their NBA playoff run on Sunday afternoon (1 p.m. ET) against the Philadelphia 76ers.

The 76ers earned the No. 7 seed via a win in the NBA's play-in tournament against the Orlando Magic. The teams are meeting for the 23rd time in the playoffs, the most frequent matchup in playoff history.

The Celtics have won the last six playoff series between the two longtime rivals.

It's still unknown if 76ers big man Joel Embiid will play; he had an emergency appendectomy on April 9 and missed the play-in game.

Here's additional information that you need to know.

Brown brings history into playoffs

With Jayson Tatum sidelined for most of the season because of his recovery from a torn Achilles, Jaylen Brown put up the best season of his career. The five-time All-Star averaged 28.7 ppg and he's headed for a second All-NBA selection. He'll also factor into the NBA MVP conversation.

Furthermore, Brown became only the third player in Celtics history to average 28 points, five rebounds and five assists in a season. He joined franchise legends Larry Bird and John Havlicek in that club. Not bad company.

Bird is a Hall of Famer and a 12-time All-Star. A 10-time All-NBA selection, a three-time NBA champion and a two-time Finals MVP, he averaged 24.3 ppg for his career.

Havlicek was a 13-time All-Star, an 11-time All-NBA selection and an eight-time champion. He was the MVP of the 1973-74 NBA Finals and also earned eight All-Defensive team selections.

Tatum appreciative of the opportunity

After getting injured during last year's Eastern Conference semifinals, Tatum missed 66 games in this campaign. He says this run is special to him because he appreciates things a little more now that he's missed so much time.

The six-time All-Star has been to the playoffs all nine seasons of his career, and each of those appearances has come with Brown as his teammate. The duo got to the NBA Finals in 2021-22, losing to the Golden State Warriors, before winning in 2023-24 against the Dallas Mavericks.
