The Celtics took a 2-1 lead over the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.
The Boston Celtics re-seized control of their first round series with the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night, winning 108-100 to take a 2-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference first round.
The Celtics avenged their Game 2 loss at home by earning the hard-fought road victory.
With the Celtics leading 103-100 with about 30 seconds remaining, Jayson Tatum hit a back-breaking three-pointer to extend the lead and effectively ice the game.
Here's the rest of what you need to know from the Game 3 win:
Celtics more effective from three
After going 13-of-50 (26 percent) in Game 2, the Celtics were much more efficient in Game 3. They went 20-of-47 from beyond-the-arc (43 percent) in this win, scoring 21 more points from distance than they did in that loss.
On that front: Jayson Tatum went 5-of-9 from three while Payton Pritchard went 5-of-10. Sam Hauser also went 2-of-2.
Also inside the numbers
--Five Celtics players were in double figures, with Tatum and Jaylen Brown (25) leading the way. Pritchard had 15 while Derrick White and Nikola Vucevic had 11 each.
--White still struggled to hit his shot, going 3-of-12 from the floor and 1-of-8 from three. He's now 5-of-25 in the series from deep.
--The Celtics out-rebounded the 76ers again (45-37) while also going 16-of-17 (94 percent) from the foul line. Philly was 12-of-16.
--The C's continued to make Tyrese Maxey work, as he went just 12-of-31 from the floor. He still had 31 points, but it was an ineffective 31. Philly was 12-of-35 from three-point range (34 percent).

After scoring 30 points in Game 2, VJ Edgecombe had just 10 points in Game 3, though he also had 10 rebounds and five assists. Paul George had 18 points on 7-of-14 shooting, but without Joel Embiid, the 76ers are clearly more limited. The Celtics were able to outlast them, and it's still unclear if Embiid will play in Game 4.
As for Game 4
The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. ET and will air on NBC and Peacock.

White took home an important award on Thursday afternoon, getting named as the Sportsmanship Award winner, which doesn't carry the same gravitas as the MVP Award or the Defensive Player of the Year, but it's still a nice recognition for what a player means to an organization on and off the court.
White is the second straight Celtics guard to win the award, as Jrue Holliday won it in 2024-25.
