If you want the Celtics to simply "run it back" with a healthy Jayson Tatum in 2026-27, then you might be in luck.
If you're a Boston Celtics fan that doesn't want to see the organization change course this offseason, this latest report is a good thing for you.
Speaking with CLNS Media on Tuesday at the NBA Finals, Sam Amick of The Athletic said there have been no signs that the Celtics are shopping All-NBA selection Jaylen Brown this offseason.
It's been rumored that the C's could move Brown for another established star like Giannis Antetokounmpo, but Amick says the Celtics appear to be doing everything they can to make sure their relationship with Brown is strong.
It's certainly understandable why the Celtics would want to keep the group together moving forward. After all, the Celtics went 56-26 this past season, earning the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference. And they did all that without Jayson Tatum for most of the season - as he played only 16 games.
If the Celtics think that a core of Brown, a healthy Tatum, Derrick White and Payton Pritchard can make another run at an NBA Finals, that's certainly realistic. The Celtics would have to make some tweaks of course after a tough first-round exit, but there's no reason to think that blowing up the roster core that has been to two NBA Finals in the last five years is necessary.
About Brown
The former No. 3 pick in the NBA Draft (2016), Brown has now spent a decade in the NBA with the Celtics.
A five-time All-Star who was named to the NBA's All-Second Team this year, Brown averaged 28.7 ppg in leading the team without Tatum. He also averaged 6.9 rebounds and 5.1 assists per night. He shot 34.7 percent from three-point range and 79.5 percent at the foul line. Brown is a two-time All-NBA selection and was named the MVP of the 2024 NBA Finals.
He finished sixth in MVP voting this year. As a result of all he's meant to the organization - and how good he is presently - it would be very difficult to move him, even for a player the caliber of Antetokounmpo. He's still just 29 years old.

If the Celtics elect to keep their core together, that means they will likely keep their draft picks. The NBA Draft begins on June 23 and the Celtics own two picks: No. 27 and No. 40.
While it will be difficult to find major impact in those spots, the C's can certainly find solid role players, as they did last year with Hugo Gonzalez.
