On Monday, the Boston Celtics made the trade of franchise icon Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers official, sending him away for Paul George and four future draft picks. 

The deal could not be made official until the league's moratorium passed at noon ET on Monday.

While Brown said 'goodbye' to Boston fans last week after word of the trade broke, he said 'hello' to 76ers fans in a social media statement on Monday.

"I'm excited to begin this next chapter in Philly. From every conversation I've had, it's clear this is a group that's hungry, competitive, and committed to winning; and that's the kind of environment I've always embraced. I've always believed that success comes from sacrifice, accountability, and putting the team above yourself. I'm looking forward to building with this group, earning the trust of my teammates, and chasing something special together."

Brown also went onto talk about the impact he plans to have in the community and off the court.

One of the best Celtics of the last 25 years, Brown was drafted No. 3 overall in 2016 out of Cal. He blossomed from that draft pick into a five-time All-Star, a two-time All-NBA selection, an NBA Finals MVP, an NBA champion and a guy who finished sixth in the MVP voting this past season.

Now, he'll head to a Philadelphia team that just beat the Celtics in the first round of the NBA playoffs, winning in seven games and ending the Celtics season.

The Celtics' brass of Brad Stevens and owner Bill Chisholm is speaking with the media Monday about the move and we'll have coverage of that here at CelticsRoundtable. Perhaps fans will get some more answers as to why this deal was made. Because day after it broke, they still don't know.

The Celtics recently revealed their summer league schedule, which will begin on July 10. Boston will play the Toronto Raptors on that date before facing the Charlotte Hornets on July 12, the Atlanta Hawks on July 13 and the Sacramento Kings on July 15. Games will split broadcast networks between ESPN, ESPN2 and Amazon Prime.

It will be the first opportunity to look at Celtics draft picks Dillon Mitchell (St. John's) and Chris Cenac Jr. Cenac was selected with the No. 27 pick out of Houston while Mitchell went No. 40 overall.
