As noted by Cllct Media and sports business reporter Darren Rovell, rapper Drake appears to have bought a wild piece of Boston Celtics memorabilia.

First, per Cllct:

Drake appears to have purchased the Boston Celtics hat once owned by Pablo Escobar

The hat was originally listed on eBay and comes with a certificate of authenticity from Escobar's brother.

As for the certificate of authenticity:

This Boston Celtics hat was once personally owned and used by the infamous Pablo Escobar. It was taken from Pablo's house in Medellin Colombia. This is the exact hat from the 1987 documentary. A screen shot from the video of Pablo wearing it is listed below. The signature on this document is by the drug lords brother Roberto Escobar. He confirms the legitimacy of this item. Also featured are two original thumbprints by Roberto Escobar and the official Escobar Estate stamp. This COA is 100% guaranteed by Roberto Escobar and the Pablo Escobar Estate. The hologram depicts the Pablo Escobar Estate logo.

While this was an interesting thing to come across on a Thursday, there are many questions:

1) Why is Pablo Escobar's family selling things on Ebay?

2) Why does Drake want something owned by Pablo Escobar?

3) Since when was Escobar a fan of the Celtics?

Per the DEA Museum: 

In the late 20th century, Pablo Escobar was a leader of the Medellín Cartel—a violent drug cartel that primarily operated from Colombia. At that time, Colombian cartels produced and exported between 500 and 800 tons of cocaine a year. Members of the Medellín Cartel, including Escobar, bribed, terrorized, and even killed Colombian citizens and government officials to move and sell drugs.

Law enforcement targeted Escobar as the cartel’s kingpin. In June 1991, Escobar surrendered to authorities and was imprisoned. However, as a condition of his surrender, Escobar’s handpicked bodyguards were allowed to secure the prison. Escobar continued to operate his drug empire protected from both the Colombian government and his rivals.

Escobar escaped prison in July 1992, beginning the largest manhunt in Colombia’s history. DEA assisted the Colombian National Police in the pursuit of Escobar. On December 2, 1993, Escobar’s exact location was determined using electronic, directional-finding equipment. Escobar and his bodyguard attempted to escape by running across the roofs of adjoining houses, but the Colombian National Police shot and killed them.

--Larry Bird led the team in scoring at 28.1 ppg while Kevin McHale was second at 26.1.

--Robert Parrish averaged 17.5, Danny Ainge averaged 14.8 and Dennis Johnson averaged 13.4. Each of those players but Ainge received MVP votes that season.

--Bird led the league in minutes played at 40.6 per game. McHale led the league in field goal percentage at 60.4.
