While the New York Knicks have a 2-0 lead in the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs, most of the NBA is already in offseason mode, including the Boston Celtics.

While the NBA Draft on June 23-24 is one of the big offseason focuses for teams, the biggest story of the NBA's offseason is undoubtedly going to be what happens with Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Antetokounmpo is not guaranteed to be traded from Milwaukee, but if he is, the Miami Heat appear determined to make a run at him. The Celtics have been connected to him as well, but the story has cooled over the last several days.

However, speaking on Friday's edition of the Dan Patrick Show, Sam Amick of The Athletic said that Antetokounmpo is intrigued by Boston and has great respect for head coach Joe Mazzulla.

1) The Celtics went 56-26 this past season. Though the first round playoff exit against the 76ers was disappointing, the C's are a very good team, and they put up that record with a largely absent Jayson Tatum, who played only 16 games in the regular season.

Antetokounmpo clearly wants to win, and the Celtics are positioned to do so. They've been to the NBA Finals in two of the last five years, so they have history, starpower, coaching stability and playoff experience.

2) He would have a good supporting cast. If the Heat were to trade for Antetokounmpo, there wouldn't be much left for him to play with. Even if the Celtics trade Jaylen Brown, he'd be left with Tatum, Payton Pritchard and probably Derrick White and Sam Hauser.

3) The Eastern Conference is winnable. While the Knicks are obviously a threat in the East, as are the Pistons and Cavs, it's nowhere near as deep as the Western Conference, which features the likes of Victor Wembanyama, Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Anthony Edwards and Nikola Jokic.

4) The Celtics can pay him. Boston already has big money allocated to Brown, so if they acquire Antetokounmpo, they can re-allocate money to him, likely signing him to a long-term deal after the trade.

The real question becomes if the Celtics are actually interested in acquiring him. Do they want to spend top dollar on Antetokounmpo, who has an extensive injury history? Do they want to break up the Brown and Tatum tandem?

We will learn much more over the next few weeks as the offseason progresses.
