The Milwaukee Bucks sent shockwaves through the NBA landscape on Monday night, trading two-time MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo to the Miami Heat.

In the process of choosing Miami, the Bucks spurned an offer from the Boston Celtics, who reportedly offered Jaylen Brown and two future first-round picks. 

Instead, Milwaukee chose a package of cost-controlled players and even more draft capital.

The decision by Milwaukee was confusing to some people, who felt that if they were still trying to contend, that they should have taken an offered headlined around Brown, who is the best individual player they could have gotten.

However, according to Kevin O'Connor of 'The Ringer,' the Bucks were scared off by the idea of acquiring Brown. 

Sources say Bucks owner Jimmy Haslam was a driving force in taking the Heat deal for Giannis over Boston’s offer. Haslam didn’t want to risk Jaylen Brown wanting out of Milwaukee in a year after dealing with Giannis and Myles Garrett trade demands. Haslam wanted certainty, and the Miami deal provided more of that with more total assets in return to Milwaukee.

In addition to owning the Bucks, Haslam is also owner of the Cleveland Browns. Evidently, he's tired of disgruntled superstars, as Garrett was dealt to the Los Angeles Rams in this NFL offseason.

Brown himself never said he was unwilling to play in Milwaukee, but the reports have indicated that he might not have been happy to do that. The Bucks didn't want to risk it, apparently. Brown has three years left on his contract.

So, for now, Brown stays in Boston with Jayson Tatum, but it's unclear for how long. Some, including me, have speculated that by including Brown in the trade offer, that the organization's relationship with him might be beyond saving. 

With the NBA Draft beginning on Tuesday night, there is a chance that Brown is dealt somewhere else. Multiple teams, including New Orleans, Portland and Atlanta, have been connected to him at various points of the offseason.

--The draft begins at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday with the Celtics holding picks No. 27 and No. 40. They've been connected to a variety of different players and positions in the draft, and there's still a chance that they could deal their picks in another trade. Some of those trades could include Brown, but they could be separate deals as well.

--NBA free agency begins on June 30 so the Celtics will have a better idea of what they need moving forward once the draft concludes and potential other deals are made.
