Darius Garland speaks on facing the Golden State Warriors in a rematch from the regular season finale.
The Los Angeles Clippers and Golden State Warriors will meet again on Wednesday in the Play-In tournament.
The two squads met in the regular season finale on Sunday with the Clippers walking away with a 115-110 victory.
Neither team had much to play for, and each team sat one of its key players. The Clippers were without Kawhi Leonard while the Warriors rested Draymond Green. Both figure to be in the lineup on Wednesday.
The Warriors were locked into the tenth seed, while the Clippers needed a victory a Portland Trail Blazers loss to the lowly Sacramento Kings if they had hoped to climb to eighth. The Blazers did not lose to the Kings.
Darius Garland Speaks
After the game, Garland was asked about the mindset playing a team they just faced and beat in the Play-In game.
"They're going to have everybody that went today. So are we. You gotta have the same competitive spirit we had today and be desperate. It is a win or go home situation," he said.
Garland played 27 minutes on Sunday, finishing with 15 points on 6-17 shooting to go along with one rebound and six assists. Bennedict Mathurin led all LA scorers with 20 points on 7-17 shooting off the bench.
For the Warriors, Steph Curry played 29 minutes, finishing with 24 points on 7-14 shooting. Kristaps Porzingis played 24 minutes, contributing 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Clippers not having Kawhi and the Warriors not having Draymond will change the dynamics for both teams on Wednesday.
Season Series
The Clippers won three of the four meetings between the two teams this season, though how much can be taken away from any of the games is uncertain.
They played two games after the trade deadline when the Clippers roster completely shifted following the trades of James Harden and Ivica Zubac.
In the March 2 meeting, a 114-101 victory for the Clippers, Garland was still working his way back from a toe injury and coming off the bench. For the Warriors, Curry and Porzingis were out of the lineup.
On January 5, the Clippers scored a close 103-102 victory, but Zubac was in the lineup for LA while the Warriors had Jimmy Butler, who is out for the season after undergoing ACL surgery.
The first meeting took place back on October 29, a 98-79 victory. Harden and Zubac played for the Clippers while Butler and Jonathan Kuminga started for the Warriors.
