The LA Clippers desperately need Kawhi Leonard back in their lineup

If there is one team in the NBA that desperately needs a win, it's the LA Clippers. Unfortunately for the LA Clippers, with how poorly they acquired talent in the offseason, their chances of success seem entirely dependent on Kawhi Leonard's availability.

In the past, the Clippers were able to succeed without Leonard by having a great combination of depth and a trio of James Harden, Ivica Zubac, and Norman Powell stepping up. The team substituted Powell for John Collins and Bradley Beal, but neither player has held a candle to what Powell brings offensively.

Now, the team finds itself in a situation where they've lost 9 out of their last 10 games, but they have a chance to win against the Hornets. Unfortunately, they'll be doing it without Kawhi Leonard, again.

    Kawhi Leonard's Status vs Hornets

The LA Clippers have officially listed Kawhi Leonard as out against the Hornets due to a right ankle sprain. Leonard will be missing his 10th straight game due to the injury, which he suffered against the Miami Heat on November 3. Saturday's game against the Hornets will be the 19th day since suffering the injury.

In six games this season, Leonard is averaging 24.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 2.5 steals on 51/40/96 shooting from the field. Fortunately, Leonard was looking as good as ever before getting injured, but unfortunately, he may not look like that after such a long absence.

    How Serious is Leonard's Injury?

When Leonard first had his injury announced, it was simply disclosed as an ankle sprain. Later on, it was revealed by Clippers President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank that it was also a foot sprain.

Fans online found some new angles of Leonard's injury against the Heat, and it looks even more alarming than before.

For Leonard to miss 10 straight games shows that it's far more serious than anyone anticipated. On the positive side, it looks like Leonard is progressing toward a return. He seems to be getting closer and closer, but with the team's inability to win any games without him, it may be too late by the time he comes back.

The LA Clippers face off against the Charlotte Hornets at 1:00 p.m. EST on Saturday afternoon. It's now or never for the Clippers to get an easy win against another struggling team. If the Clippers lose this game, it's tough to see when they'll win the next one.
