Keaton Wagler had a bounce-back game in his second appearance in the Summer League

After a tough outing in his first Summer League game, Los Angeles Clippers rookie and fifth overall pick Keaton Wagler was able to turn it around with a 23-point performance against the Utah Jazz.

Wagler shot 6-16 from the field and also recorded 4 assists, 1 steal, and 1 rebound. It was the third quarter in which Wagler showed fans and his coaching staff why he was picked so high in the draft. He scored 18 points in the quarter and played his best stretch since playing in the Summer League.

He was at his best from beyond the arc this game as well, making 4 of 7 three-point attempts this game. Wagler went head-to-head with second overall pick Darryn Peterson, who also had a great outing with 23 points, but it was Wagler's Clippers that were able to pull away for a 104-82 win.

After the game, Keaton Wagler talked about how he wanted to bounce back after a tough first Summer League game. He mentioned to the media how he was able to trust himself and the coaching staff that believes in him.

Wagler told the media that he didn't play worrying about mistakes, and instead played more like himself. "I went out there and played free, was aggressive from the start and I think that's what really helped me," Wagler said postgame.

Keaton Wagler also reflected on his big second-half performance, and he gave a similar answer. Wagler wanted to let the game come to him, and he stayed true to himself, and he kept his confidence.

"I feel like I was aggressive early getting the right shots," Wagler said. "I just stayed aggressive in that third quarter, especially, and got hot, and when I got hot, my teammates kept finding me and shots were falling. I think that's what it is: staying aggressive."

What Else Does Keaton Wagler Have to Show?

Everyone in the Clippers front office and coaching staff knows the upside and talent Keaton Wagler has to offer; it's a matter of fixing small details that will help him go a long way.

While Wagler was explosive from the perimeter this game, his inside game will still need some work, and that will come with time as he adjusts to the NBA's physicality and puts on muscle.

If he can become a better finisher around the rim to go along with his shooting ability, the Clippers may have a great talent on their roster for years to come. Wagler will need to continue to play with his aggressive play style as he develops this season.
