The Los Angeles Clippers started 6-21, however, the team has turned things around and climbed back into the playoff conversation with their hot streak, proving that this squad isn't done just yet.
Los Angeles notched a massive comeback win on Saturday, rallying from 19 points down to defeat the Detroit Pistons 98-92 at Little Caesars Arena.
Despite playing the second night of a back-to-back and falling behind by double digits early, the Clippers closed the game on a 28-8 run to steal a road victory against the Eastern Conference-leading Pistons (28-10).
After the game, head coach Tyronn Lue highlighted what led to the Clippers pulling off another big comeback for a team that used to make that one of their calling cards.
"Yeah just kind of see how the defense is playing," Lue said of Kawhi Leonard. "Just telling Kawhi and James to be patient...overall I thought our guys just continued to trust."
The win pushed the Clippers (15-23) to their ninth victory in their last 11 games, and it showed the kind of fight this team has developed during their recent hot streak.
John Collins has been one of the biggest reasons for Los Angeles' turnaround, and his play of late has been nothing short of amazing.
Against the Pistons, Collins finished with 25 points and seven rebounds in 37 minutes while shooting efficiently from the field.
Over his last five games, Collins has averaged 16.5 points and 6.8 rebounds while shooting an incredible 73.5 percent from the field and 64.3 percent from three-point range.
His ability to finish around the rim and knock down threes has given the Clippers another weapon alongside Leonard and James Harden.
Looking at the stars though, Leonard led the team with 26 points and eight rebounds while Harden added 19 points along with seven rebounds and seven assists.
Leonard has been red hot lately, including a career-high 55-point game against the Pistons back on December 28th, and he continues to show why he's one of the best two-way players in the league when healthy.
This season, Leonard is averaging 27.9 points per game while Harden is putting up 25.8 points per game.
The Pistons played without several key players including star guard Cade Cunningham (wrist), Isaiah Stewart (illness), Tobias Harris (hip) and Jalen Duren (ankle), which left Detroit without their top three scorers and much of their defensive presence.
Despite the absences, the Clippers still had to earn this win by forcing 25 turnovers, including 12 in the fourth quarter alone.
The Clippers now turn their attention to Monday's contest against the Charlotte Hornets at home, looking to keep their momentum going.
For a team that started the season 6-21 and seemed headed nowhere, the Clippers have turned things around by playing together and trusting each other, and nights like Saturday show they might have something special brewing.
